Rules/Suggestions

The following are suggested rules for coaches and players to follow. They do not have to be enforced if coaches agree BEFORE A GAME or before a questioned play that they are not going to play with a certain rule. If there is no agreement, though, the following default rules apply.

These rules are not final. If a parent, player or coach suggests an amendment, addition, change, or removal of a rule it will be considered and posted here as an update if accepted.

1. There is a Visiting Team and a Home Team. Visiting Team bats first

1a) Visiting Team coach returns equipment to 31 Granite Street, which is right near Dublin Heights (Where the leagues of boys SK until Grade 4 play), to the parking lot

2. The Home Team gets last licks

2a) Home Team coach PICKS UP equipment from 31 Granite Street Parking Lot

3. Grade 5/6 should take the Red Duffel bag (the one with the larger bats)

4. Use a soft softball only

5. Bring extra bottles of water

6. Find a place for everyone in the field

7. No sliding, one warning if repeated, automatic out

8. No stealing bases, if done automatic out

9. Let one of the boys be the fielder for the pitcher so as to create another position.

10. No throwing of bats, if done automatic out.

11. An inning ends either with three outs or once you’ve batted around the order,
whichever comes first

12. Everyone must keep a safe distance away from the batter, behind the batting cage

13. No batting practice or swinging the bat off to the side, the exception is the next batter can

swing a bat in a safe location to warm up.

14. Grade two and up are out after three strikes, SK and grade ones get 5 strikes.

15. Batting order: Each player must be reminded at the beginning to remember their

batting number. And the coach needs to remember the number of the last

one out on the team so they know who is first up when it is their turn to bat again. IT IS

BEST TO WRITE THE ORDER ON A SHEET OF PAPER

16. All players should bring their own gloves although we do have a disgusting supply of old leftovers if you would like to borrow.

17. Label and initial everything you bring to the field whether it be bottled water, gloves, bats, balls, etc.

18. Batter must wear helmet

19. If there is an error in a throw to first, second or third base, or to home plate, the runner may only advance one extra base.
If there is an error on the hit (e.g. the fielders miss a ball that was hit to the field)
then the runner may run as many bases as desired until a throw is made to a base or the pitcher.

NONBINDING Suggested Rules
The following rules are things to CONSIDER only and are not official rules. If you would like to institute these rules both coaches must agree to them beforehand.
Upon  majority request, some of these rules can become official:

A. No Bunting
B. No leading off
C. No tagging-up
D. Catcher should wear facemask
E.
The Pitcher should be an adult and he is also the umpire (the idea is to let the kids hit and to keep the game close and interesting)
A pitching tip: Have the kids show you a practice swing before you pitch to them,
to help correct any really bad batting mistakes; and to know where to pitch the ball so that the player can hit it.

HAVE FUN, MAKE SURE THE KIDS SMILE WHEN AT BAT!!!!!!!
